Over the last few years the international migration governance landscape and the environment IOM is operating in have changed enormously. The inclusion of migration in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, IOM’s entry in the UN, the UNDS reform and last but not least the adoption of the Global Compact for Migration and the establishment of the UN Network on Migration have opened up opportunities, but also placed new responsibilities on IOM and its staff. The e-learning course Leveraging Global Frameworks through Policy and Programming is intended to help IOM staff to respond to these opportunities and fulfil our responsibilities. It will help participants to identify and articulate the linkages between MIGOF, SDGs and GCM in the context of the UNDS reform and the roll out of GCM at country level. It illustrates how the IOM Strategic Vision helps frame IOM’s work vis-a-vis these global frameworks as well as how IOM staff can use these frameworks flexibly in their daily work. It focuses on activities that will be implemented at country level by the UN Network on Migration (UNMN), and specifically through its foundational workstreams aiming at strengthening UNCTs and governments’ capacities to implement the GCM. After completion, IOM staff will be better prepared to support IOM’s role as the coordinator of UNMN and adapt to the new environment in the context of the reform of the UN Development System. Trained staff will also be able to directly contribute to positioning IOM as a key member of the UN development system to achieve the 2030 Agenda.
